Dua of Sehri – Roza Rakhne Ki Dua (Sehri Supplication)

The Muslims recite dua of sehri (sehri supplication) to keep fast, to seek the forgiveness and blessings of the Allah Almighty during the holy month Ramadan.

Dua of Sehri – roza rakhne ki dua

The fasting supplication is as follows:

وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتُ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ.

Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims who believe that it teaches them to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate. As a result, Muslims are encouraged to exercise actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat).

During this month, Allah Almighty showers his blessings, gives rewards, and benefits to all those Muslims who fast with full devotion and faith.

Importance of fasting

Sahih Bukhari Hadith #1896

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ بَابًا ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : الرَّيَّانُ ، يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ الصَّائِمُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، لَا يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهُمْ ، يُقَالُ : أَيْنَ الصَّائِمُونَ ؟ فَيَقُومُونَ ، لَا يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهُمْ ، فَإِذَا دَخَلُوا أُغْلِقَ ، فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ .

Translation: Narrated Sahl: The Prophet said, There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, ‘Where are those who used to observe fasts?’ They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it.

ترجمہ: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، جنت کا ایک دروازہ ہے جسے ریان کہتے ہیں قیامت کے دن اس دروازہ سے صرف روزہ دار ہی جنت میں داخل ہوں گے، ان کے سوا اور کوئی اس میں سے نہیں داخل ہو گا، پکارا جائے گا کہ روزہ دار کہاں ہے؟ وہ کھڑے ہو جائیں گے ان کے سوا اس سے اور کوئی نہیں اندر جانے پائے گا اور جب یہ لوگ اندر چلے جائیں گے تو یہ دروازہ بند کر دیا جائے گا پھر اس سے کوئی اندر نہ جا سکے گا۔

Sahih Bukhari Hadith #1894

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ،    أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ ، فَلَا يَرْفُثْ ، وَلَا يَجْهَلْ ، وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ ، يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ ، وَشَرَابَهُ ، وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي الصِّيَامُ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا    .

Translation: Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said,   Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, ‘I am fasting.   The Prophet added,   By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), ‘He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times.

ترجمہ: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا روزہ دوزخ سے بچنے کے لیے ایک ڈھال ہے اس لیے  (روزہ دار )  نہ فحش باتیں کرے اور نہ جہالت کی باتیں اور اگر کوئی شخص اس سے لڑے یا اسے گالی دے تو اس کا جواب صرف یہ ہونا چاہئے کہ میں روزہ دار ہوں،  ( یہ الفاظ )  دو مرتبہ  ( کہہ دے )  اس ذات کی قسم! جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے روزہ دار کے منہ کی بو اللہ کے نزدیک کستوری کی خوشبو سے بھی زیادہ پسندیدہ اور پاکیزہ ہے،  ( اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے )  بندہ اپنا کھانا پینا اور اپنی شہوت میرے لیے چھوڑ دیتا ہے، روزہ میرے لیے ہے اور میں ہی اس کا بدلہ دوں گا اور  ( دوسری )  نیکیوں کا ثواب بھی اصل نیکی کے دس گنا ہوتا ہے۔
